I just got a propane delivery, but my tank gauge isn’t reading 100%. Why?

Propane tanks are never filled to 100% due to the risk of propane gas expansion. The propane industry follows an 80/20 rule where tanks are only filled to 80%. This is especially important in the hot weather months where liquid propane will expand the most.

Do I have to be home when my propane delivery arrives?

You do not have to be home when a delivery happens. Make sure to communicate where your tank is in comparison to your home so our drivers can be as efficient as possible. If you have a special situation where our driver needs to go through a gate, needs special access, or needs to be wary of dogs, please let us know so we can make accommodations.

Do I have to sign a long-term contract with Sea Breeze Propane?

One of the best things about Sea Breeze Propane is that our customers are with us because they choose to be! For our customers who own their own propane tank, we do not require long-term contracts. Customers who lease their tanks from us must abide by their lease agreement. If you are ever unhappy with Sea Breeze Propane, simply give us a call to discuss closing your account or having your tanks picked up.

Why should I choose automatic propane deliveries over will-call propane deliveries?

Most homeowners and business owners prefer automatic deliveries for the peace of mind that comes with not worrying about forgetting to check their propane tank level and schedule a delivery. In addition, our customers take advantage of our pricing options that are offered for our automatic delivery customers. Learn more about the differences between automatic deliveries and will-call deliveries.

Do you charge any propane delivery fees on top of the price per gallon?

We are very proud to be a NO DELIVERY FEE COMPANY. We do not charge any delivery surcharge fees, hazmat fees, or other add-ons you see with many other propane companies.

Can you make a propane delivery to me today?

Our will-call deliveries usually take between 2-3 business days to arrive. During severe weather conditions, this timeframe can sometimes be extended. However, if you are in desperate need of propane, please give our office a call to see if we can accommodate. Oftentimes, routes have been set multiple days in advance. This is another reason our customers prefer automatic deliveries; they don’t have to worry about last-minute arrangements.

How do you know when I need a delivery?

Our automatic delivery customers benefit from never having to worry about their propane tank level. We use a remote gauge monitor on the propane tank. This allows us to always see the propane level from our office.

Do you offer free propane tank installation estimates?

Yes! If you are thinking about adding a propane tank to your property, please give us a call so we can put you in touch with one of our Propane Install Managers. A member of our team will perform a site visit to your property to learn more about you and your situation, all at no cost. Give us a call today!

How long is a propane tank good for?

A barbecue tank (20lb) is qualified for 12 years from the date of manufacture. Larger propane tanks can last up to 30 years.

What size propane tank do I need?

What size propane tank you need depends on the purpose of the propane usage. Consumers’ propane usage widely varies based on what the propane is being used to run (appliances, cooking, generator, pool heating, etc.) and the size of the home. This page goes into detail about which tank size is right for your home. Not completely convinced? Give us a call to discuss your options!

How do I read my propane tank gauge?

Reading a propane tank gauge is like performing simple math. Multiply the percentage showing on the dial by the tank capacity to understand how many gallons are left in the tank. Keep in mind, propane tanks are only filled to about 80% due to safety reasons.

Can I paint my propane tank?

If you own your own propane tank, you CAN paint it. However, you have to be careful with your choice of color and paint. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has certain guidelines for what is acceptable when painting propane tanks.

Is it better to have my propane tank above ground or underground?

While there is no “better” option, there are differences in installation codes, and a large part of the decision comes down to customer preference. Above ground tanks are usually smaller, and the homeowner would choose this if they don’t mind seeing the tank outside their home. However, larger tanks are usually buried. Some homeowners would rather not see their propane tank in their yard, hence why they choose underground tanks.

What should I do if I run out of propane?

If you run out of propane, shut off all appliances and close the service valve on the propane tank. Immediately alert us of the situation. A safety and leak check will have to be performed by a professional before resuming use of your equipment. Once the situation is resolved, give us a call to get set up on automatic deliveries to limit your chances of this happening again! What should I do if I smell propane gas inside or around my home?

If you smell gas inside or around your home/building, follow the below steps:

  1. Put out all smoking materials and other flames. DO NOT OPERATE lights, appliances, telephones, or cell phones.
  2. Leave the house/building immediately.
  3. Open the propane tank lid and shut off the service valve to stop the flow of gas. Only do this if you feel comfortable doing so.
  4. Call your propane supplier immediately to report the problem and DO NOT return to the home/building until a licensed professional says it is safe to do so.
